Great post Doug and very timely. I agree with all 6 of the points that you have laid out. My current focus is building my list. I hope that you are right that "The golden age of Internet Marketing hasn’t even begun yet". I look forward to it.

It's not all about price even in this economic downturn. Consumers still look for value in their purchases. Taking the comparison offline I would rather buy a product from a local merchant that I know and trust then say Walmart even if the price is a little higher.

I do agree though that we need to be more creative with our marketing and sales strategies right now. Learning how to add value to our products and even doing some cross selling of related products is the way to go.

It's all about perspective is'nt it - sure we're making less profits right now but now is the time to plan for the inevitable upturn in the economy

Very true. The smart individuals are showcasing the true value they offer....BEFORE the customer gets the sales pitch. Not only that, but they're building communities as well instead of being a stand-offish "guru" online.

Great post!

Very powerful post Doug!

You are so right. The recession is definitely taking it's toll on sale, and I agree that you need to keep your price points at a respectable level.

It is very easy to just say that you will drop the price, but as you have stated, that just means you have to make that many more sales to keep up and lowering the price doesn't always mean more sales.

There are definite price points that make a product sale better and it's not always what most people would expect.

I like your suggestion to add additional value by adding additional related products to the product to increase the perceived value.

Lastly, it is good to know that I am not alone. Sometimes when I can't seem to make very many or sometimes any sales, it makes me wonder if I'm doing something wrong.

Thanks Doug!

Lowering your price does not mean that you will be making lots of sales. I agree with that point and it has been proven. It takes a lot longer to make up that money lost by dropping those prices. I wish more people would read this and I am going to be spreading the word. Thanks.

Great points!
It's true, in any economic time any business can grow in different ways, it's all about finding different/unique ways to do things. As for online businesses, we need to focus on delivering quality information and finding new sources of leads.

I appreciate your advice and leadership. The recession has taken its toll on me, and just recently have I had any success in making some progress online. It turns out the ad swaps have been a big opening for me. My single ad on my page thanking people for verifying their email is getting takers. It took, learning to create my own product, a good time in Giveaways to build my initial list to get to the point where adswaps were even possible. Now that they are, the traffic they are sending me is paying off. I wouldn't have been anywhere without your help and guidance. I'm far from where I intend to be, but I am finally beginning to see some real hope. Looking forward to a recovery which will make this all the more worthwhile. Thanks again.
