Internet Connections On The Road…

As you may know, Teri & I just came back from 3 weeks on the road,
starting with JVAlertLive in Orlando, Florida. Here’s what we ran into for Internet
connections on the way:

Raleigh, NC - Motel had no Internet Access.

Ocean Blue Motel, Vilano Beach, FL - Wireless Access worked perfectly.
**Highly Recommended**

Rosen Plaza Hotel, Orlando, FL - Wired connection not working the
first night, hotel engineering dept. fixed it next morning (Thanks!). Perfect from then on.
**Recommended**

West Wind Inn, Sanibel Island, FL - 2 Wireless networks, worked perfectly.
**Highly Recommended**

Starlight Hotel, South Beach, FL - No Internet, but still well worth a couple of nights.
**Highly Recommended**

Cape Caribe Resort, Cape Canaveral, FL - Wireless in lobby & mezz. only, no one
could connect, night staff had no info on their system. Just one of the irritants at
this place - watch for a separate rant about this joint shortly!
**Definitely NOT Recommended**

LaPlaya Resort, Daytona Beach, FL - Wired connection worked flawlessly.
**Highly Recommended**

Ellington 2 @ Wachesaw East, Murrels Inlet, SC - Wireless connection worked
flawlessly. (note - Timeshare Resort)
**Highly Recommended**

Best Western Kings Quarters, Doswell, VA - Wireless connection worked flawlessly.
**Highly Recommended**

So out of 9 places, 2 had no Internet, 2 had issues, and 5 worked as they should.
Room price was not an issue - the two most expensive were the two with issues.
So our experience on this trip was 55% of stops had Internet that worked as it
should, 45% did not. Next trip we may just watch for Best Western hotels, since
they claim to now have it in all of their locations.

If you don’t need access when you’re travelling, it’s a moot point - but for those
of us in Internet Marketing, or others travelling for business it’s a necessity! Be
sure you see if they have access before you book, then check your room as
soon as you can - BEFORE the day shift leaves. If it’s not working, skip the
desk clerk & the concierge - as we learned at the Rosen, nothing happens ’til
you speak DIRECTLY to the hotel manager.

Take care, talk soon…

Doug.
