Teri & I met with Lon at JVAlert in Philadelphia last month, and then after my speech there we all went to dinner to further discuss Internet marketing and affiliate marketing in general and using videos in particular. About Lon Naylor…

Amongst his other activities online, Lon is the owner and operator of the Learn Camtasia blog and video training facility. While most marketers haven’t even upgraded to Camtasia 7 yet, Lon already has a coaching program for it! Lon regularly teaches marketers and product creators how to leverage screen capture videos (like those made with Camtasia) for maximum marketing effect.

A 30-year veteran of the computer industry, Lon spent the last 10 years of his professional career during the decade of the 90’s as a senior engineer at Microsoft before ‘retiring’ in 1999 at age 41. List building is perhaps the most important aspect of Internet marketing – after all, how often have you heard that the ‘money is in the list’? Every morning, like clockwork, I send out our e-zine and by the end of the day have banked another few hundred dollars on average. So it’s safe to say that without our optin lists it would take a lot more effort to stay in the 6-7 figure a year range.

Another important part of Internet marketing is the networking we do with other marketers, usually resulting in lasting friendships. One such friend is Socrates Socratous, the kid from a tiny village in Cypress who is now the rich young Californian dude – so rich he’s taking a TWO-MONTH VACATION back home in Cypress this summer – not too shabby, eh? I didn’t really know Socrates til I was asked to be a speaker at his Internet Marketing Seminar in Sandusky Ohio in 2007, but when I met him he was charming, intelligent, polite – and a great guy all-round. So we’ve kept in touch…

But wouldn’t you know it, he still keeps secrets – even from me! It was just this week I found out he’s been hiding a major new list-building secret from me – and it turns out it’s one I’ve never even HEARD of anyone using before! He’s cracked the code and found a way to get more than 3,000 new signups from each little set-and-forget foray he makes into list building – and his list is now over 200,000 strong! In Internet marketing circles, that’s huge – probably one of the top 50 or 100 lists in the WORLD for our industry!

But what’s even more impressive – pay close attention here – he does this without using his list, his existing traffic, any form of paid advertising… Not even his own sites! Last night I spent some time going through the new Blog Post Automator that Mike and Greg just launched. Mike Mazzella and ourselves have been friends for a couple of years now, both online and getting together with he and Sheri each time they come to Niagara Falls.
